Kinneigh round tower still stands beside a graveyard where a broken bullaun stone once wore a central hole like a drinking cup for rain. The stone vanished before the new millennium, leaving behind a gap large enough for imagination to fill. Perhaps it was buried, carried off or simply mistaken for ordinary rubble. In that absence, the tower becomes a keeper of loss, guarding a place where even memory can be swallowed by earth.

A possible bullaun stone was recorded in the graveyard (CO094-104003-) to the E of Kinneigh round tower (CO094-104002-) in August 1993. The possible bullaun was described as being incomplete - probably about half of the original remains - with a central perforation. A subsequent search of the graveyard in April 2000 failed to locate the bullaun stone. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
