Bullaun stone in Roosk is a water-filled bowl carved into outcropping rock, marked by at least a dozen pilgrim crosses and scattered with coins. It is the kind of place where prayer became repetition, repetition became muscle memory, and muscle memory cut through stone. The small natural depression beside it suggests the hand followed what the rock already hinted.

In rough grazing land with outcropping rock. A roughly bowl-shaped water-filled hollow (diam. 0.14m; D 0.25m) carved out of the almost level surface of the outcropping rock. This bullaun stone is regarded locally as a holy well and pilgrims to it have inscribed at least a dozen crosses on the rock surface surrounding it. The hollow contains coins and small stones. A smaller depression in the rock surface, immediately to the W of the well, appears to be natural. The above description is derived from 'The Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
