Bullaun stone in Mullanalamphry

Described in 1981 as ‘Situated in yard of house just south of Tawnawully Bridge SE of Lough Eske is a bullaun stone 30cms in height, 44.3cms in width. The stone has a circular well c. 0.28m in width and 19cms in depth. It was probably used as a quern grinding stone, as wear marks in the depression indicate. The bullaun is carved from a single block dressed on upper surface’ (SMR File 13/05/1981; Devitt 2004, 273).
