Situated in pasture on a shelf on the N side of the W-E Dawn river valley, with the stream c. 100m to the S. The church of St Dimóg' or St Dima (WA017-009001-) (O'Flanagan 1929, 25-6) was described as having an ecclesiastical enclosure (Power 1952, 370-1), which produced a bullaun stone (dims. c. 0.5m x 0.3m ) with a single basin (diam. 0.23m; D 8cm) when it was cut in making a N-S lane. Likely dating to the early medieval period, the bullaun stone may have been used for ritual purposes, possibly in connection with the nearby church of St Dimóg or St Dima. Such stones are often associated with Christian or pre-Christian ceremonial practices, including the anointing of the sick or as a site for holy water.
