Bullaun stone in Kildermody

Situated towards the bottom of an E-facing slope. A D-shaped bullaun stone (dims. 0.6m x 0.65m) with a single basin (diam. 0.24m; D 7cm) is built into the S face of a field bank just N of church (WA016-068002-), and a second bullaun stone (WA016-068004-) was found nearby during land reclamation. Likely dating to the early medieval period, the bullaun stone may have been used for ritual purposes, such as the preparation of holy water or as a site for pilgrimages. In folklore, such stones are often associated with saintly figures or healing traditions.
