Bullaun stone in Carrownaleck is a bullaun stone in Carrownaleck, County Sligo, Ireland. Local information says people found the granite boulder near a field ditch in the early 2000s, then moved it into the house garden. The boulder measures 1.65 metres northeast to southwest and 1.15 metres northwest to southeast, with a bowl-shaped hollow 0.32 metres east to west and 0.2 metres deep near its northeast end.

In the garden of a modern house. A granite boulder (1.65m NE−SW; 1.15m NW−SE; H 0.36m), roughly lozenge-shaped in plan, with a circular, bowl-shaped hollow (0.32m E−W; 35m N−S; D 0.2m) in the upper surface towards the NE end. The stone has a slightly domed upper surface and gently rounded sides and corners. The surface is moderately moss-covered. According to local information, the bullaun stone was discovered in the early 2000’s c. 35m to NE in the pasture field immediately to E of the house, at approximately ITM 552143 819451. It was found in a field ditch bordering the field fence on the N side of the field, which is bordered by a road. The bullaun stone may have been associated with a rath (SL032-002001-) which is located c. 15m to S. Likely dating to the early medieval period, the bullaun stone may have been used for ritual purposes, such as the preparation of holy water or as a site for pilgrimages.
