Building in Wexford

Situated inside the town wall at St. Selkar’s church (WX037-032009-), it was first noted and recorded by Catherine McLoughin. The wall of a medieval building (L 18.5m NE-SW; H c. 2m) with seven lights (H c. 0.5m; Wth c. 0.25m), either blocked or altered with brick, survives as part of the SE wall of the graveyard. The lights are from the first floor of the building and the elliptical head of its doorway (Wth 1.3m) consisting of two pieces of dressed limestone is just visible above ground level beneath a relieving arch. The medieval wall was later raised with two floors of larger windows beneath flat brick arches. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 11 February 2020
