Building in Cashel (kilmaine By.)

In a possible cashel (MA110-014001-). Knox (1911, 302) recorded that ‘there are foundations of stone buildings on the top [of the cashel platform], but nothing quite definite.’ These may have been in the W half of the cashel, where a low, poorly defined rise (max. dim. c. 7-10m) is evident. It is defined on its E side by slight N−S scarp and at NW by short length of low sod-covered stony bank (L m; Wth 1.6m; H 0.4m) which curves S−NE, and is truncated at its NE end by a subrectangular pit (11m E−W; 5m N−S; D 1.2m at W end) dug into the NW sector of the cashel platform.
