What is recorded here
Brechin Castle once rose above Angus, but no visible fountain remains to mark the waters that sustained it. The lost water may have flowed through castle kitchens, filled basins for washing hands, or fed gardens where residents drank and played. A fountain is easy to forget because water disappears into soil and stone. The absence does not erase the life that moved through the castle; it withholds the shape of that life from modern sight.
