What is recorded here
Blessed Bush marks an ivy-clad blackthorn beside a living spring in County Clare, named on maps from 1842 and still fenced within a small ash copse. It stands near a mound, a children’s burial ground and an enclosure, suggesting the area has long served more than one human need. The tree may have given shade, marked water or received prayer, while the spring continued to feed life around it.
In a small copse of ash trees and fenced off. Indicated and named ‘Blessed Bush’ on the 1842 and 1915 eds. of the OS 6-inch maps. An old ivy-clad blackthorn tree, just S of which a spring emerges. The spring now feeds a small concrete water tank and a dry stream bed runs along the W side. A mound (CL006-006001-) is located c. 30m to the S, a children’s burial ground (CL006-003001-) c. 180m to the SSW and an enclosure (CL006-007----) c. 100m to the NNE.

The site is associated with local traditions of healing and blessing, likely linked to the nearby holy well spring. The name "Blessed Bush" suggests a possible connection to an early Christian or folk religious practice, though no specific saint is definitively recorded.
