Blarney House

Detached three-bay single-storey gate lodge, built c.1880. Flat-roofed extension to rear (west). Pitched slate roof with red brick chimneystack and cast-iron rainwater goods. Roughly dressed rubble stone walls with painted brick quoins. Camber-headed window openings having render sills, painted brick block-and-start surrounds and uPVC casement windows. Camber-headed door opening with flanking sidelights, red brick block-and-start surrounds and uPVC door.

A picturesque gate lodge which retains much of its historic character intact. Textural variation is created by the contrasting red brick and rubble stone, while the purple slate and grey limestone sills bring additional colour to the site. It forms an integral part of a group of related structures, together with the main lodge, outbuildings, lime kiln, ice house and landscaped grounds, which are associated with Blarney House and Castle.
