Black Castle (Site of), Portumna Demesne is an unclassified castle in County Galway, Ireland. The name suggests a dark tower or a fortress built from local stone that swallowed light before sunset. It may have watched the demesne boundary, collected rent or hidden people during trouble. Whatever it did, the castle is gone except for the place where it stood.

Built by the de Burgo family in the 13th century, the Black Castle at Portumna was an important medieval stronghold in the Shannon Estuary region. It is remembered for its strategic role in controlling local trade and its association with the powerful Norman lords of Connacht.
