Bivallate Rath in Ballymoneymore holds a man-made underground passage beside its annex, marking the site as a scheduled archaeological place rather than an ordinary field. The double rampart and hidden passage suggest people valued protection, privacy or ritual enough to shape the land and descend beneath it. Whatever purpose the passage served, the Rath still invites curiosity about the hands that dug it and the lives that moved through its darkness.
