BIVALLATE RATH (remains of) in Graffy

BIVALLATE RATH (remains of)

What is recorded here

Two curved ditches still trace a shallow oval in the Graffy grass, holding the shape of a residence that abandoned its walls but refused to forget its boundary. The earth remembers the effort of dragging soil and dropping stones long after the names vanished. A bivallate rath is not a ruin of pride; it is a ruin of repetition, where ordinary people kept a small circle defensible and distinct.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BIVALLATE RATH (remains of). Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
