What is recorded here
Bivallate rath and Lisdoo passage still lie hidden beneath Castle Balfour Demesne in County Fermanagh. A double-ringed fort and underground chamber may have served people in the Christian era, perhaps as a refuge, treasury or boundary marker. The earth keeps both shapes private, waiting for rain, roots or curiosity to reveal what hands once built.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BIVALLATE RATH & ?Man-made underground passage: LISDOO. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
