Bawn in Termonfeckin

Bawn

What is recorded here

Bawn in Termonfeckin is a small wall west of the castle, possibly part of a larger lost enclosure. It marks the edge of a place where human life still turns, even when the main structure has faded from memory. The wall remains because someone built it to hold shape against forgetting.
There is a small bawn wall to the W of Termonfeckin castle (LH022-041010-) which is a later addition but may originally have extended northwards into a larger enclosure which could be on the line of the present courtyard wall. Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 23 August 2012
