Bawn in Shean More is a rectangular enclosure, forty metres long and thirty-three wide, set on the north-facing slope above a tower house in County Waterford. Low earthen scarps still mark its borders, suggesting people once built a defensible yard where livestock or families could shelter from ridge winds. The tower loomed beside this humble bawn, creating a small domestic world where stone strength and earth-bound pragmatism met.

Located towards the top of the N-facing slope of a broad E-W ridge. A rectangular enclosure (dims. 40m E-W; 33m N-S) defined by low scarps, to the N of tower house (WA028-001----) may represent the remains of an earthwork bawn. Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 26 July 2011
