Gallagh holds the probable main focus of the Clontibret battle in 1595, a violent edge where Monaghan still remembers. Men may have bled into that soil while arrows and steel crossed the air, reducing living flesh to common dirt. The field keeps the shape of that loss long after the names disappeared.
