Ballydavid is a battlefield in County Galway, marked only as a place where violence occurred. The name suggests two communities clashed on open ground, perhaps over boundary, pride or survival. No date, army or outcome has survived to explain the bloodletting. The land keeps the event private, offering no hero, no victim, no lesson except that men bled there and stopped repeating the fact.
