What is recorded here
Ardnaree and Shanaghy still carry the shape of a battlefield though no date or name survives to mark the violence. The land may have swallowed swords, carts or men, and the absence of a record does not erase the shape of the wound. To walk there is to enter a room where the furniture has been removed but the floor still remembers the weight.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
