Battle blood soaked Aghyoghill soil in 1086, though no marker exists to show where the victims fell or which side held the ground. Men bled into ordinary earth, their names lost before the first chronicle was written. The landscape kept the violence private, denying later visitors the chance to point at a exact grave or celebrate a known victory.
