BATTLE SITE, 1086 (unlocated) in Aghyoghill

BATTLE SITE, 1086 (unlocated)

What is recorded here

Battle blood soaked Aghyoghill soil in 1086, though no marker exists to show where the victims fell or which side held the ground. Men bled into ordinary earth, their names lost before the first chronicle was written. The landscape kept the violence private, denying later visitors the chance to point at a exact grave or celebrate a known victory.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as BATTLE SITE, 1086 (unlocated). Recorded period: E.C./MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
