Jacobite forces under James Graham, 1st Marquess of Montrose, fought Williamite forces under the Duke of Schomberg near Ballydonaghy in 1689. The Jacobites were defeated, which helped secure William of Orange's control over Northern Ireland during the Williamite War in Ireland.
