Battle of Reading (871) is a major battle site with a checked map point.
The Battle of Reading in 871 was fought between the Anglo-Saxon forces of King Alfred the Great and Viking invaders led by Guthrum. The battle was part of the wider Danish invasion of Wessex and ended in a Viking victory, leading to further campaigns that eventually resulted in the Treaty of Wedmore and the establishment of the Danelaw.
