Covenanters, led by James Guthrie, defeated Royalist forces under the Earl of Middleton at the Battle of Corrichie on 15 June 1644. The Covenanters' victory was significant as it weakened Royalist control in north-east Scotland during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms.
