Battle of Cairnwell

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Battle of Cairnwell as Battle Site (17th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1km. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The Battle of Cairnwell was fought between Scottish forces and English troops around 1650, during the Wars of the Three Kingdoms. The Scottish defeat weakened their resistance in the north, aiding English control over Scotland.
