In pasture overlooking salt marsh to S. Indicated on OS 6-inch map (1842) as 'Old Battery'. Stone-faced platform (H c.4m; 19.77m NE-SW; 8.2m NW-SE). NW elevation partially collapsed exposing earthen/rubble core. Low stone wall(H c. 0.5m; Wth c. 3.0.9m) encloses raised area on top of platform. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992).
