Barrystown House

Farmyard complex, extant 1840, including (north): Detached single-bay single-storey coach house with half-attic on a square plan. Now disused. Pitched corrugated-iron roof with pressed iron ridge, red brick Running bond chimney stack (south) having stepped capping with red brick Running bond bellcote (north) having stepped capping, and no rainwater goods surviving on red brick header bond eaves. Lime rendered or roughcast battered walls with concealed flush quoins to corners. Square-headed "arrow loop" openings centred on pseudo three centre-headed carriageway with red brick block-and-start surround framing timber boarded double doors; (south): Detached four-bay single-storey stable outbuilding with half-attic on a rectangular plan. Now in alternative use. Pitched slate roof on collared timber construction with clay ridge tiles, part creeper- or ivy-covered coping to gables, and remains of cast-iron rainwater goods on red brick header bond eaves. Coursed rubble stone walls with part creeper- or ivy-covered flush quoins to corners. Square-headed door openings with cut-granite step thresholds, and cut-granite monolithic surrounds in red brick block-and-start surrounds framing timber boarded or tongue-and-groove timber panelled doors. Square-headed flanking window openings with cut-granite sills, and red brick block-and-start surrounds framing fixed-pane timber fittings. Set in unkempt grounds originally shared with Barrystown House.

A farmyard complex surviving as an interesting relic of the Barrystown House estate following the destruction (----) and subsequent demolition (----) of the eponymous farmhouse annotated as ""Barristown [of] Ogle Esquire"" by Taylor and Skinner (1778 pl. 151).
