Barrow

Barrow, unclassified

What is recorded here

No human hand has ever entered the barrow at Annagh, yet it still casts a shadow across reclaimed pasture. Maps drawn in 1840 and 1897 traced an oval boundary ringed by a ditch, while aerial pictures taken years later showed the same faint line pressing through grass. The dead may lie beneath that quiet field, waiting for someone finally brave enough to ask the soil what they guarded.
In reclaimed grassland, ringfort (LI049-267----) 160m to ENE. Templenalawe church site (LI049-096001-) and graveyard (LI049-096002-) 260m to SSE. Outline of circular-shaped sunken area (approx. diam. 8m) visible on OSi orthophoto taken 2005 and Digital Globe orthoimage taken 2011-13.
