What is recorded here
Kilbrickaun fort in County Kerry is a ring-barrow where a low circular mound sits inside a wide fosse and external bank. The combined structure spans nearly forty metres across, large enough to hold several lives or one great ceremony. Burnt earth and stones appear near the centre, suggesting fire broke the quiet dark before the grass returned. Breacan may have stood beside this place, but the soil remembers heat and transformation rather than a name.
This site is marked on the OS maps as 'Kilbrickaun fort' (Cill Bhreacáin - church of Breacán (personal name - saint)). A low, roughly circular mound measuring 17.2m N-S and 16.6m E-W is surrounded by a fosse ranging between 3m to 5m in width and an external earthen bank. In the centre of the interior some mounds are to be noted, and one of these produced burnt earth and stones. The overall dimensions of this site measure 39m N-S and 39.8m E-W.
The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle. Brandon in association with FAS Training and Employment Authority (1995), no. 89. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.

A ring-barrow, likely dating to the Early Bronze Age, associated with a fosse and possibly a former ritual or defensive structure; its location near a site named after a saint suggests possible later Christian reuse or overlay.
