Barrow

Pre-development testing in 2000 revealed a low oval enclosure. The enclosing bank was constructed with material scarped from the interior. A number of fragments of cremated bone were found across the top of the bank and a large pit in the north-eastern quadrant contained burnt bone and undecorated potsherds. Pond barrow, dating to the Early Bronze Age. This type of monument is significant as an early form of burial and ceremonial landscape feature, often associated with water and ritual activity.
