Barrow

In the middle of a level pasture field with restricted views. A circular area (diam. 7m) is enclosed by a bank of earth and stone (Wth 2.2m; H 0.45m) which is partially obscured by overgrowth. Some field clearance debris has been placed on and against the bank and in the uneven interior. There is a ring-barrow (CO127-047----) c. 3km to the NW. A Neolithic embanked barrow; likely dates to the Early to Middle Neolithic period (c. 3700–2500 BCE). Such barrows are significant as early funerary monuments, reflecting communal burial practices and social organisation in prehistoric Ireland.
