Barnes Top rises to approximately 300 meters and is part of the low-lying uplands characteristic of County Derry's landscape. It lies within the limestone plateau geology common to much of the region, and while not prominent in folklore, it contributes to the area's network of minor summits valued by local walkers and historians.
