What is recorded here

A narrow rear extension and courtyard wall at 94 Castle Street in Banff, Aberdeenshire, belong to the 19th century and still mark the footprint of an ordinary dwelling. The stone may have guided water, closed a garden gap or given a family more room when Castle Street crowded itself upward. Whatever it did, it did without ceremony, and that is why the shape remains believable: small, useful and unafraid of being forgotten.
