Mortally ill men from far away came to Balnagown because clean air and quiet water gave them strength. The hedged walk still marks the edge of that estate, where human hands shaped the land into a place worthy of trust.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Balnagown Castle, Hedged Walk as Formal Garden (period Unassigned), Path (period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Balnagown Castle, located near Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, was built by the Mackenzie family in the 16th century and later held by the Mackenzie Earls of Seaforth. It is remembered for its historical association with the powerful Highland clan and for its well-preserved architecture, including the notable Hedged Walk garden.
