Ballinascarty Bridge

Double-arch humpback road bridge, built c.1820 spanning Owenkeagh River. Round-headed arches having dressed limestone voussoirs and rendered soffits springing from rubble stone piers with V-cutwaters having domed capping to north elevation. Rubble limestone spandrels and parapets having dressed coping with sections of render. Remains of level crossing to east.

The bridge remains in good condition and continues to fulfil an important role in the transport network. High quality stonework is evident in its fine voussoirs, spandrels and parapet walls. With its striking humpback form, this bridge is a distinctive landmark in the small village of Ballinascarty.
