Ballaghhaugeag Br.

In low-lying marshy grassland spanning the Springfield River, immediately downstream of the modern bridge. This is a mortared limestone bridge (L 20m, Wth 5m, H 3.3m), aligned NW-SE, in good condition save for NW end. Six round-headed arches span the river which is now confined to the four arches to SE. Four corresponding cutwaters survive on SW or upstream side. The NE side is rendered and plank-centring is visible on the most southerly arch. An overgrown and disused roadway extends off to SE. This bridge may date to the late 17th C but appears to have been reconstructed in the late 18th/early 19th C (pers. comm. P. Duffy).
