Balfour Castle, a 16th century baronial mansion at Balfour Mains in Angus, was largely demolished except for a six-storey circular tower. A farmhouse built around 1845 incorporated some of the castle ruins, and the combined site became a Category B listed building in 1971. The tower still rises beside the farm buildings, holding the shape of the older mansion inside the life of the newer one.
