Augustinian monks built the Abbey of St Peter & St Paul in County Armagh during early Christian times. They lived under strict rules, prayed at dawn and dusk, and copied texts for nearby villages. The abbey gave Corporation a religious centre before modern churches existed.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as AUGUSTINIAN ABBEY: ABBEY OF ST PETER & ST PAUL. Recorded period: E.CHRIST.. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
