Aslackby Castle is a medieval moated enclosure in South Kesteven, not a stone castle at all. Its water-cut ditches and raised banks still mark an eight-acre boundary where people lived, worked or played before stone walls were ever imagined. The true castle may belong elsewhere, but this is the place that kept the shape of water, earth and time.
