Freestanding square-plan four-stage limestone folly tower, built c.1860, having crenellated parapet and corbelled corner turret. Rubble walls having battered base, dressed quoin stones and tooled dog-mask spout to upper level with tooled string course at base of parapet with supporting corbels. Single and bipartite lancet window openings having tooled surrounds, sills and mullions. Single lancet-headed entrance with splayed ashlar surround and voussoirs having flagged approach with tooled circular staircase to interior giving access to roof. Located in densely wooded area to north-west of Ashford Castle.

Located in an area of dense woodland, this folly tower has an almost mystical appearance owning to the fact that the view of it is obscured from all angles. Dating to the late nineteenth century it stands as a testament to the wealth of the ruling classes of Ireland during this period of history.
