What is recorded here

Arthur Annesley, born in Dublin in 1614, became the first Earl of Anglesey and served Charles II as Lord Privy Seal from 1673 to 1682. He brokered a critical treaty with the Duke of Ormonde in 1647, sparing Ireland from total rebel conquest, then helped restore the monarchy by temperating revenge against the regicides. A moderate Presbyterian who drifted into royalism, he used his voice to protect others from the violence that often follows political collapse.
