Brodick Castle on Arran keeps a post Medieval gate at the north west edge of its walled garden. The stone opening marks the boundary between the tended garden and the wider castle grounds. It is the kind of place where a person might have passed tools, seeds or visitors from one side to the other. The gate still stands as a small, practical reminder that even a castle garden needs an entrance.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Arran, Brodick Castle, Walled Garden, North West Gate as Gate (post Medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Brodick Castle on the Isle of Arran was originally built in the 13th century by the MacDougall clan and later held by the Campbell and subsequently the Stewart families. It is important as a historic seat of power in the region and as a well-preserved example of a Scottish island stronghold.
