Castle Lishen in County Cork wears a Fitzgerald coat of arms on its gate wall, though the plaque may have belonged to the lost tower house beside it. The stone jumped from door to garden to gate, suggesting the family repeated its name wherever identity threatened to fade. It is not a stable record but a mobile claim, carrying lineage through change instead of waiting for history to notice.

This is the record for the original location of CO006-129----, an armorial plaque carved with the Fitzgerald coat of arms. It is now inserted in the N-most wall return of a semi-circular gate wall of 19th-century appearance, the entrance to a late 18th-century country house, Castle Lishen (CO006-020002-). When the plaque was first recorded, it was said to be lying in the garden, and to have previously been placed over the front door to the house (Grove White 1905-25, vol. 2, 110); it may have originally come from the adjacent tower house; its exact original location is not known.
