Detached two-bay single-storey former summerhouse or garden structure associated with Ardnamona House (see 40908504), erected c. 1880. Pitched corrugated-metal roof with raised rendered verge and chimneystack to one gable end. Roughcast rendered rubble stone walls. Pointed-arched window opening having replacement timber window. Square-headed doorway with no door fittings. Located to the west of Ardnamona House. Set well back from road in extensive mature wooded and landscaped grounds to the north/north-west corner of Lough Eske and to the north-east of Donegal Town.

This charming small-scale structure retains its early form and character. It was originally built to serve the Ardnamona estate (see 40908504), and it was possibly originally built as a summerhouse to provide interest along a walk around the estate etc. The pointed-arch window lends it a Gothic feel that is commonly found on nineteenth-century follies and garden features in Ireland. The corrugated-metal roof suggests that it may have been originally thatched. This building forms part off a group of related structures, and is an interesting addition to the built heritage of the local area.
