Architectural fragment in Malahide Demesne

Architectural fragment

What is recorded here

Malahide Demesne holds a church door crowned by a mitred head, carving authority into stone above the threshold. That much is clear. Whether the head mocked a bishop, honored one or simply watched people enter, the story has faded. The face remains, silent and definite, judging every shadow that passes beneath it.
The apex on the exterior of the S door of the church (DU012-031001-) contains a carving of a 'mitred head'. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout Updated by: Christine Baker Date of upload: 16 January 2015

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
