What is recorded here
Architectural fragments in Leggetsrath West belong to Ferns Castle, Co. Wexford, and they wait in storage at the OPW depot, Kilkenny. They came from excavations at WX015-003001-, not from a display room or a finished story. Perhaps they were bricks, lintels, chamfers or broken edges of a chamber where people once lived, argued, hid or loved. They are not obscure because they are small; they are obscure because a castle gave up some of its shape before anyone decided what the shape should mean.
