That is Architectural fragment in Leggetsrath West, a D-shaped sandstone column base from St Mary’s medieval parish church in New Ross. It measures twenty-three centimetres wide, seventeen deep and five centimetres high, with a small moulded surround. The shape suggests a column that once rose inside a crowded worship space, perhaps near an altar or entrance where people brushed past it daily. Now it rests in a Kilkenny store, stripped of its building but still carrying the pressure of hands, prayers and time.

Originally from St Mary’s medieval parish church (WX029-013002-), New Ross, Co. Wexford. Currently in the OPW store, Kilkenny (Kilkenny depot stone carving number: KD021). A sandstone D-shaped column base (Wth 0.23m; D 0.17m; H 0.055m) with moulded surround (Wth 0.03m; H 0.03m). Stylistically this dates to the 13th century.
