Kilnanare church once held a rectangular stone carved with interlaced five-strand bands, but the fragment broke shortly after description and vanished before a 2000 inspection. What remains is a shape remembered through a drawing rather than a surface you can touch. The loss is not empty; it is a carve-mark in time, showing that even recorded things can retreat from the world.

In Kilnanare church (KE047-044002-). A rectangular block of stone bearing a low relief pattern of interlaced five-strand bands was described and illustrated by McDonnell (1965, 190). The stone was broken shortly after it was described by McDonnell and only about two-thirds of it remained (ibid.). This stone was not located during a site inspection in 2000.
