What is recorded here

One large stone lies in the nave of the Kilmalkedar church. It may have been a door lintel before it became a marker inside the building. The notch near one edge still shows the shape of the frame that held it.

National Monument No. 65. The Early Christian and Medieval ecclesiastical complex at Kilmalkedar (KE042-026----) lies at the foot of the W slopes of Reenconnell hill, overlooking Smerwick Harbour. The Reenconnell ridge peaks at 907 feet/276m to NE of the site and the area around Kilmalkedar is sheltered on its N and S sides by spurs of this hill. Lying in the nave of the church is a large stone which may at one time have been a door lintel. It is 1.64m long x .44m wide and has a regular notch, .08m wide, near the end of one side.
